I am planning a trip to hershey pa in august. I have read many hotel reviews on line and I am so confused. the hotels in the area all had a fair amount of negative complaints. help! I am looking for a clean hotel close to hershey pa attractions at a reasonable price. the hershey hotel and hershey lodge is too pricey for me.

Hershey was not affected badly by the rain we had a few weeks ago, so it is unlikely there will be any "flooding discounts", like the above mentioned. If you are looking for cheaper hotels, try a hotel somewhere outside of Hershey, like Palmyra, Hummelstown, Lebanon or Harrisburg.

In Lebanon, there is a Quality Inn that is 15 miles from Hershey and can usually be bought at under $100 a night. In Hershey there is a Days Inn that will be less than the Lodge or the Hotel, but it may be higher becuase it's still in Hershey. There are few hotels in Palmyra that will be less expensive as well. They will be smaller however and the drive to Hershey is about 5 miles. Harrisburg has a lot of hotels downtown, if you are willing to fight a little more traffic. There is a Sheraton and Hilton on the main drag, but since it's the capital, you will see a slight increase in price.

There are some motels in the Palmyra area, just east of Hershey--try doing a web search for motels near Hershey PA--some have package deals with park admission. Check for coupons also--I recently stayed in a $100+ room for $59.00 with a coupon. In addition to Hershey attractions, there are also bologna factories and pretzel factories that offer tours, wineries, outlet shopping, the state capital and Amish country to see in the area.. Dutch Wonderland is another amusement park about an hour or so away and the American Music Theater near that.Hershey may have been flooded, but that was last week--now it is business as usual. If you are renting a car, check out Rand McNally's website--it is free and if you have an address, they can give you driving directions. It is WAY better than Mapquest, and even better than AAA. hope you enjoy your stay--we do have some beautiful countryside here!

If you are looking to save money and stay somewhere close, try the Milton Motel.

The rates should go down since it was just badly flooded.
