I have all the symptoms of Vertigo and also suffer from panic attacks from time to time. My question is, for the past couple months, I have had a HUGE fear of heights, and this has NEVER been a problem for me in the past, it has got so bad, that when I even look up in the direction of the sky, I feel dizzy and pukey??? What is going on????

Not sure about the fear of heights. I have vertigo.
Its fluid in the cochlea of the ear that gets displaced. The cochlea is the enclosed circular part inside the ear. Not to be confused with inner ear fluid.
Its thought that a hit on the head or a jolt can cause fluid crystals to loosen and move around. About the fluid, it normally helps with our sense of balance, or where we are in the sense of the world. The displaced fluid gives the brain the wrong signal. When I lay down, the fluid movement causes the brain to believe I am just about upside down. I have to hang on for the sense that I'm about on a roller coaster ride for a long number of seconds.
The dizziness is common symptom and the nausea can accompany that. Perhaps it is that the vertigo has gotten so bad that you have developed a fear of heights, rather than a fear of heights has caused vertigo.
At that, you may perceive you have a fear of heights to explain vertigo, but if you had "vestibular therapy" the fear of heights might resolve. I thought looking 'down' not 'up' described a fear of heights.
And believe me, I've had panic attacks in my life, and they can be quite frightening. As well as the vertigo-and-suddenly I dont know which way is up. It took me awhile to handle that without an urge to panic.
The easiest of these: vertigo, fear of heights, panic attacks, the vertigo can be easily assessed by your physician and treated most easiest of all three.
I answered a question on panic attacks. Its a long answer, but might be helpful.
Best to see your physician.

Anytime you have vertigo, you should seek medical attention as it could be symptoms for worser things like MS, and meningitis.

I had panic attacks too, even ended up going to the emergency room once because I thought I was dying. My body goes numb, my heart starts hurting... real bad stuff. You just have to learn to control it. Try to calm down, don't over breathe.

Do you know what brought on your fear of heights? My mom looked down from the grand canyon & developed a fear of heights. I started being scared of spiders recently..I see one and I feel like a bunch are on me.

You just have to learn to control your fears. realize that it's silly and try to overcome it.

you dont need medication. You're not crazy. My math teacher in high school was agoraphobic (afraid of leaving his house) and he overcame it, you just have to force yourself a little.

Try to relieve your stress somehow. remember always to take some time for you to just relax.

oh and i've been panic attack free for 5 years without medication. theyre quite common. 1 out of 250 people get them.
