1. We are capable of abstract thinking. Most animals aren't.
2. We can significantly alter our environment. Again, most animals can't.

What the Hell are you talking about? We make things with tools. We have a written language.
We farm and raise "livestock" We drive automobiles . Fly airplanes. Subermarines, Space shuttles . Computers, Music . Write thoughts . We are Superior unless your swimming with sharks or running in a jungle from tigers or the wood from a bear. But we are smart enough to Know when we are in harms way. This could go on too long.

Are we animals though? We may well share their physical features, but I would think there is no animal out there yet which is able to perform many of the complicated, psychological functions we humans have. I am not share whether that makes us superior though - in fact, I often wish I could be as straightforward as my cat.
