The U S Chevy Corvettes continue to win on the Les Mans circuit in Europe and the U S> These are super grueling races which require the car to run at flat out top speeds on road courses which require constant gear changes, braking, speed thru turns, etc. Yet, our Chevrolets always do well. Actually they customarily win their class. Are U S cars finally catching theEuropean Ferfari and Porche cars? And if so, look at the difference in price.

Corvettes are very good sports cars for the price

Corvettes have always been great. They've lacked in the interior quality areas in the past, but have picked up there in the past two generations (C5 and C6). The Corvette is the most bang for the buck. It can hang with or even outperform 150 grand European cars in both straight line acceleration and handling. It gets better mpg than the Honda S2000 (a 4 cylinder). Like 28 MPG highway for a motor that pushes out over 400 HP. And it still runs on the good old Chevy small block pushrod. The new Z06 has a 427 in it though. And all this without super or turbo charging it. So the engine still has A LOT more potential to it. And they've got an actual chassis to them instead of the stupid monocoque (sp?) that most cars have. A lot of people think that they're big and bulky and can't handle. But they are one of the most nimble cars on the road.

I think Chevy redlined an LS6 for a full tank of gas and the motor ran perfectly afterwards. That's something.

Chevy, and American cars on the whole are on a MAJOR upswing. I just hope people support the American economy and give them a chance.

The Corvettes are good race cars, but without the team that is engineering, building, and preparing them, they wouldn't be worth a damn. Factory help from Chevrolet doesn't hurt, either.
