Do your homework, listen and take notes in class. Take honors classes and see if your local college offers after school classes for language and/or math. Pace yourself to learn and learn well, you will do nicely.
Keep up the good work.

From my personal experience, if you want to get ahead in school then you have to have a determination to work hard. Doing well in school is not a stroll in the park, but it takes hard work and determination. If you're struggling in a particular subject, then ask your teacher for help after school. There maybe free tutoring at your school. You should see a teacher or counselor for more details. Start your homework early so that if you have any questions, you can ask the teacher before the morning it is due. Don't wait until the last minute and start your homework at lunchtime. Study for your exams and don't get distracted. For example, if all of your friends are going to the mall on Friday night, stay home to review your notes for the quiz coming up. I know it's hard, but if you put your mind to it, then you'll be surprised at what you will accomplish.

**Hope this helped**

Become well like by the teacher and fellow students, not butt kissing teacher's pet nor a class room politician, but just well like. People will help you out when they like you and forgive you when you make a mistake.

Of course, study hard and always be prepare as well.

Another thing, dress decently to class. There is such a thing called "image." It is your own brand. Build your own brand and take good care of it, it is very important.

One of the ways to get ahead is to focus exactly on what may be asked in class. This is actually fairly easy as most teachers use worksheets and notes to stress key points over and over. Knowing these key points will help you on the test.

Overall, it does come down to hard work, but knowing the key points will help you to get ahead.

there are those ******* who are naturally smart and remember things easily... but for everybody else, do your homework and really pay attention in class. i can't tell you how good you look in your teacher's eyes if you do those two things. also, always try your hardest in whatever you do and study and review material often. it also helps if you are interested in the stuff you are studying. motivate yourself to do at least a little bit of outside research if you don't really understand something in class. i've done all this stuff and combining it with my natural ability to just remember stuff i've earned a 3.907 gpa and good relationships with all of my teachers (i'm going to be a senior in a college preparatory school in the fall).

Put in more time studying. Also it helps to take up an instrument to open different areas of the brain.

Ask the teacher for help after class. They will focus on the topics that are important.

Listen, take notes, read, study, participate in class, ask teacher for extra credit assignments. School is your job, so work, work, work.
