The days of the week get their names from a combination of Norse and Roman roots. Some of them come from the Viking gods: Wednesday is Odin's Day, while Thursday is Thor's Day and Friday is Freia's Day; while others come from Roman roots like Saturday, which is Saturn's Day in Latin.
