That's a piece of cake! Open MS paint on your pc, then open the picture that you want to convert to .jpg file.
Click File>Save as and in the file type text box, choose jpg, jpeg file format.

a few ways. You can open the file in any pic prog (adobe, ms paint) and save it as jpeg/jpg. Another way you can do it is rename the file and change the extension from .bmp, .gif to .jpg. Windows will ask if you want to really change it and the file may become no longer useable. Just say yes and you will see the icon change.

The main difference between both the formats is: JPG is lossy compression and PNG is lossless compression. Since images made for web are necessary to be of small size, saving it in a PNG format serves the purpose as well as it saves the quality of the image.

there are many ways to do this, but the easiest way is to open the picture in paint and "save as" then change the format to jpg.

The easiest is to download and install The Gimp (free) from http://www.gimp.org , open your image within Gimp, and under the File menu, Save As, giving it a name and file extension of .jpg and Gimp will automagically know how to convert it.

Many *nix systems come with a small program called "convert". It works with many popular image formats. Try "man convert" to find out how to use, it's easy.
