The music of our generation has changed. Pop music has become more upbeat and more rythmic. R&B is nice and slow.
But now, rap music are going down instead of up,and there are some artists help it go down. Take Eminem, an icon of gansta rap, have some stupid songs like "No One's Iller than Me"

"Ripped this old lady, hung her neck by a hook
Didn't realize it was my grandmother 'til I checked her pocketbook "

How about FACK

"I'm gonna facckin ***
Oh ****, oh yeah
Fack fack faaaack "

I don't know what is wrong with Eminem but he is just bringing down hip-hop and rap.
They say they are talking about their "phony hard life" stuff

Can't some artists make rap without including sex, prostitutes, gun, stealing and booze?

Gansta rap, rap, whatever! Lot of rap song are similar
I'm just saying, what is a way to stop those indecent artists to stop making music- if you can call it a music- about lame, boring, mostly swearing songs

Rap used to be an empowering force in the cultural and sociopolitical movement of the black people. It was a way to have their voices heard. Further, rap used to be about going to a "happenin" party and having a good time (i.e. sugar hill gang). However, when West Coast artists facilitated the gangster rap movement, other rappers followed suit, because this is what our apathetic society craved. When artists like Will Smith refused to buckle to this violent style, he was labeled "soft." As they say in the rap industry, "it's all about the Benjamins," and these rappers will do and say anything to keep their pockets lined.

Well, first off, not all rap is "gangster." In fact, the trend for the last decade or so has been to integrate rap into other musical genres, such as electronic music (see the Blade & Blade II soundtracks), r&b, and even country music. Besides Will Smith, Outkast is a pretty good example of a rap group who didn't build their fan base with violent lyrics and a "hard" image. Rap (hip-hop) music is slowly evolving along other musical genres. Perhaps you aren't noticing because your negative opinion of rap music is no longer allowing you to be open-minded about that form of music (?)

There are artists out there who make rap songs about more positive things. Common is one person. It is possible that you are going to have to listen to older rap songs to hear it. The problem is that the hardcore stuff is selling now.

Look for older rap artists like MC Lyte, Kurtis Blow, Doug E Fresh, Heavy D, etc. Their lyrics were mostly about having a good time...sometimes they talked about something serious, but it was not as vulgar.

As if Eminem was the first rapper to do this. Rap has been going down this road since the '80's and they are all about one-upping each other. It will only get worse. Sad thing is, people buy it, that's why they keep making it.

I never liked rap so I really don't care if they improve the lyrics or not; I want to see it die either way.
