I had a "friend" that I would communicate with thru Y/A. We would respond to each others q &a's.... I really enjoyed this... It wasn't anything perverted or cyber sex like..... Just two people who found common points of view. Just like that, this person is gone. I feel as if someone kicked me in the gutt. This is the first person I have gotten to know on the internet... I don't think I'll do it again.

Whats your opinion?

Deep lasting friendships CAN and occasionally ARE forged over the internet. Though for your money, you're still better off getting offline and meeting people you can go to the pub with.

romantic relationships RARELY work over the internet in the long term (nor, infact, do most long distance relationships).

My personal opinion is that a romantic online relationship dooms you to certain heartbreak in the future. You'll either find the person is NOT what they portrayed themselves as, or the distance will cause lonliness and one of the parties involved will cheat.
