are you going to be in the front shop or pull wrenches, right now it would take 500k to open a tire store because of equipment and stocking tires,do you plan on a franchisse or a wholly independent operation, how many bays ?how many techs?what level of repair?alignment rack Y or N ? if you opened a 3 or 4 bay shop with room to park outside and used creepers and jackstands you could do it for 100k as you will need 3 months rent and salry for you and at least one helper and that is cutting it too close

At least 500 grand to purchase and equip a tire shop, earlier poster is right on the money, and if you buy a previously owned business, hopefully you get the customers to go along with it.

If you can steal the tires and sell them, not a dime would be needed.
