They make more money than they can spend and look at the old people, they can't even eat.

Ack. I believe that government should probably pay better than it does, but certainly not at the expense of programs for the elderly....even if it's the underwater basket-weaving classes.

To elaborate a bit, officials should make enough for a fairly comfortable lifestyle. Why? It makes them less susceptible to corruption and government service should not be the exclusive station of the rich, that just reeks of a classed society with hereditary rulers, elected or not.

I don't understand how you feel the elderly pay for a congressional pay raise. They - like other Federal prograsms and employees are paid from taxes collected. The elderly get their Social Security from the same source. I don't undertand your question or logic.

I get that the rats gave themselves more money, they sure dont deserve it, but how exactly are the "elderly" paying for it?

Actually , the middle class pays for it and the government is doing away with them .
