It's because it seems like a life long decision - but really it is not. I am finding as I am nearing 40 that if you follow your instincts and learn more about the things you like to do, you will be led in the right direction - and each road you go down teaches you stuff that you will need later in life.
I mean I always knew that I wanted to do something in advertising (like darren stevens on Bewitched) or something in computers. I never went to college, but i learned to type in high school. I did Kelly temp work, phone surveys and sales, restaurant work and each thing has given me a skill that helps me in my current situation, working for myself as a graphic designer doing web and sales tools. I love it and i just kind of fell into it.
Now that I have been on my own for almost 10 years I am starting to think about how I can use my skills in other ways - to provide support for some other ideas that I have. There really is just no telling where you will wind up, so I would say don't make a career choice - learn what you like and are good at.
Peace!

Its not really that hard. All u have 2 do is take a multiple intelligence test and a career aptitude test 2 narrow down ur choices. then do some volunteer work related on the jobs the tests recommended. pick what fits u best. though this may take some time just know that u have the rest of ur life 2 pik a career (i do I'm only 13 :)

Because a career is something you are going to do for the rest of your life and you need to decide what you like now and if you will still like it 10-20 years down the road.

There are so many choices, pressures from your family/friends, and many people think once you choose one your stuck for life. Remember that you can always change your mind or develop other ideas as you go.
Talk to your career services office/career resource center on campus - there are people who have committed their lives to helping YOU make that choice.

Because it's hard to find something you love that will be lucrative. And because people give you all kinds of advice that may not take into consideration at all what you like and what you are good at. Sometimes you have to try a lot of different things to find out what you like. For example, you might need to volunteer at a medical clinic to see if you like working with patients and can stand to see needles etc. You need to know a lot about your personality to find something that suits you. The key is finding something that you love, because then work will be a lot less like work and a lot more like fun.
My husband hates his job and is depressed all the time about it. I love my job and it doesn't even feel like work a lot of the time.

Because there are to many chooses. To many risks and takes alot of time.
If i become this, i will have to do this, and put this on hold, and pray that i have enough time for this, and if i dont then i guess something bad will happen. So ill do this, but then again ill have to spend this much time doing it..and all this.
Its just hard.

its hard cause u hv many choices n u dont want to take up the wrong one.there is uncertainty n risks, so most of the time we tend to ask others.just leave it to ur parents as they know the best n no ur caliber and potential.if ur still confused then dont hesitate tio ask a counselor.
