This question plagues my mind, I cannot fathom why it is popular

This question really brought to mind a situation. As a kid I liked it only because it featured young kids and I just sort of related but I never considered it to be anything hilarious. I used to work with a lady in her 70's who would absolutely howl and almost fall to the floor in stitches over this comic strip! I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I'm sure much of it's appeal definitely has to do with the fact that it harkens back to a more innocent time. A more wholesome time, if you will. Many older people remember those times with great fondness and are sad that times have changed so much.
Also, for what it's worth, the strips creator, Bill Keane, is a devout Catholic. His work appears in a number of Catholic newspapers such as The Catholic Standard and other publications. The older co-worker to whom I referred, now in her eighties, is a devout Catholic. I am as well but I'm certain that the strip appeals to a very broad base of people who just happen to appreciate clean humor. Of course, I can see how it wouldn't appeal much to a lot of younger people. The world is very different and things that were once funny many years ago may seem "square", for lack of a better term, to many. Hope that helps some!

Well I think people like Family Circus cause it is a moral and good natured comic. I like it even though it not really funny I just browse at it.

I prefer B.C. which is very funny and hardly recognized as a great comic strip.

good question by the way

I liked it when I was a kid, but that was only because they would do these dotted line things. Like the son would be walking back to the house from the yard but he would take a twisty windy path. Its not really funny at all, but its neat when your a little kid.

i think it is kind of cute. but i think it is aimed toward christian families and holds strong values. The children are innocent, i mean they get into normal mischief, but the world hasn't tainted them. And they family has strong "traditional" morals.
It's not my favorite comic but i think that is why so many families like it.

I think it's mainly for older people. It's not really funny or interesting, but it's cute and inoffensive, so it gives older people something they can read.
