...in your skull specifically?

What I mean is, do you feel as if something in your skull is missing? Like maybe a few brain cells (or all of them)?

well...in the heart yes, sometimes. but specifically in the skull...experienced it only once when i had an accident while diving into a pool from a gr8 ht. i banged my head, lost lotsa blood, swallowed a lot of water and then brought it all out. yeah...my skull had a horribly empty feeling then....it was a distinctly funny feeling...i wasn't sure if my head was still screwed on to my body....i heard it's a common feeling after losing consciousness.

I sure do. My entire family had died except for my son.
He stole the little money that my mother left me when she died so he doesn't talk to me.
My boyfriend died in the hospital 2 weeks ago.
Empty? You bet!!! It's a heavy heavy pain in the gut that won't go away. Deep sadness and feeling lost and alone.

In my skull? You mean intellectually lost?
Not me. I'm happy to say that even though my emotions are shot, my intellect is still intact.
I try not to dwell on my losses and keep a cheerful disposition as much as possible.

No, not in my skull, as you asked specifically.

Yes, in my "sense of being" sometimes; and this is related to a traumatic experience that sometimes returns in memory... but more accurately in "feeling" and "sensing." I think it is existential angst. It is something that cannot be described, so I don't know whether this is what you are feeling. For me it is beyond words, and is experienced as a physical chill or worse.. nausea?

Eventually, I think everyone feels it. Yet life goes on.

weird question... well I think that when I'm very preoccupied with something (or somethings), my head tends to think too much, and by doing so, can't think clearly... maybe that's the "empty feeling" you're talking about? When you've got too much on your mind?
