If you can't sleep get up and do the dishes or laundry, etc. Usually just thinking of chores makes me decide I'm too tired. Put a fan on you so you have to snuggle in the blankets, start reading, or get up to watch a bit of TV. Some ibuprofin might help if you have small aches you're not aware of. Just don't lay in bed thinking you can't sleep as it will just increase the problem. I feel for you and wish you ZZZZZZZs. I also agree with the antihistamine idea.

Be like the dolphin.Close 1 eye and will yourself to sleep and then maybe the other eye will go to sleep also. And getting of the net would help as well.Or try thinking about Englands "exciting" performance in W Cup thats bound to send u to sleep. It helped me nod off anyway.

I'd go into another room and sit for a few minutes in a soft chair, maybe have a glass of water. If you have some soft music, you can put it on. Then try going back to your bedroom to sleep after sitting for several minutes.
The sitting in another room is supposed to relax your mind so that you're relaxed when you go back to bed. Hope you have a good night's sleep!

Try reading a good book or drinking a warm glass of milk,
Watching tv, without lights on always puts me to sleep..but is
not good for the eyes. You could always try a sleep aid as well.

The problem is not that you cannot sleep. It is that you think you should be sleeping. Apparently people who wake at this time are supposed to be the wisest as this is the best time to get up. Its quiet, the sun is getting up and most wise sages consider this the best time. So actually there is no problem. Enjoy.

The Romans always finished a meal with lettuce, because it helps you to sleep. So if you have any in the fridge try that. At least it wont hurt you, unless you are alergic to lettuce of course.

Meditate. Get a piece of serenity. Lay down on your bed and close your eyes. Don't take drugs unless for medical purposes.
