I would be careful about any company that does profit sharing, unless they are local, trusted, and you have a patent/copyright/trademark on your product.
If you haven't done so already, you should begin by investigating existing patents, to see if your idea hasn't already been patented, or would be covered under copyright or trademark law. There are several good books on patent and copywrite law - these two would be a decent start:
Patents, Copyrights & Trademarks for Dummies
The Entrepreneur's Guide to Patents, Copyrights, Trademarks, Trade Secrets & Licensing
Once you've done some initial investigating yourself, you may want to seek the advice of a patent attorney.
If you've already done that part, and are looking for a manufacturer, the best place to start is the Thompsons Register:
http://www.thomasnet.com/index.html is the webpage, but many local libraries have paper copies as well. This should help you locate a list of manufacturers who do what you need, then cross -referencing through trade insustries and Better Business Bureaus should help you narrow the list down. Then approach them...
Good luck

That's not bloody likely. If your product fails to sell, then the producer will get stuck with most of the liability. If you do find such a sucker, pass on the contact please.
My advice is to get your business plan in order and go hunting for investors. I think you can generally find some groups looking for a good investment if you look...I've seen them advertise in local papers and online (try putting out the call on Craigslist if ALL other avenues fail).
Just make sure that business plan is in order because no one will give you money unless they feel secure that you'll give them more money back.

Hey,
Iam actually in the process of getting some thing manuf. overseas. I have contacts in China & India that will produce anything that you want. as long as you convince them your idea is saleable.
Generally, Almost all manuf. will be willing to invest at least the Mould charges, if you buy 1,000 or what ever MOQ of your item that they create. As far as sharing. . wont work unless its a personal contact of yours.
wat is it, textiles ? .. electronics ??. ..ceramic ??
