I can't tell you why some people do it, but I can tell you something I noticed once I was married. I no longer cared about meeting women, I was happier, and self-confident. That, in and of itself, made me more attractive to other women. When that marriage ended, and once I got over the emotional shock, and began to be happy being alone, the same thing happened - a wonderful woman walked into my life.

So I would have to say that being married usually makes people happier and more confident, and thus, more attractive to those looking.

And then, of course, there are those single people who have fears of commitment, so married people are "safe", since they are already in a commitment.

I believe that some people are just intrigued by seeing someone else fail. It just irks them to see someone being successful in a relationship, and they are driven to tear it apart.
