Associations may be a good avenue to explore as well. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* On the Journey to Open a New School: One Step at a Time by Brenda J. Travis
* Crash Course by Chris Whittle
* How to Market Your School : A guide to marketing, public relations, and communication for school administrators by Johanna M Lockhart
* A Public School of Your Own: Your Guide to Creating and Running a Charter School by Catherine Blakemore

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

The first thing you need is a USP (Unique Selling Proposistion). This is a 1 or 2 line phrase that clearly communicates what makes your English school the very best, why you are different, and why people should choose you. It's much more than a slogan, it tells a person exactly what they are going to get by using your service.

Once you establish a USP, you can build your marketing around that. The best and cheapest form of marketing is direct-response marketing. It's going directly to the people that are most likely to buy from you. Direct mail works great. Determine who your ideal customer is, and then buy a mailing list and target them directly.

Your writing should clearly describe all the benefits your company has to offer. Use testimonials, make a compelling offer, be vivid, be exciting, be passionate and enthusiastic. Offer a referral reward program so you can get your customers to refer new customers to you. Just step outside the box, be creative, and go for the jugular!

Have pictures of nice people holding a simple black and white sign that says, "got english?" (Stealing from the US Dairy Association's "got milk?" campaign.)
It is straight and to the point and it would work. Best of all, it would cost you hardly anything.

Best of luck to you!
