100,000 isn't an unmanageable target.

I only broke 5000 points late last weekend and I am now up to 7600 points without particularly trying. Once you have attained level 4/level 5 3000 points a week is not that difficult, even for someone like me with a full-time job. At that rate it would only take 7-8 months to break 100,000.

Kevin took less time than that to get to 100,000 but if you compare your answers with Kevin (the 100,000 point guy) you will also note that whilst you only have about 8% best answers over half of Kevin's answers are best answers.

Best answers are not only worth 10 points but each best answer can generate up to 50 points by being rated as good by other users. That is a possible 50 points that you can get per answer whilst not even being logged on to Answers.

The trick would therefore appear to be careful selection of which questions to answer and give good answers. Do that and you to could break 100,000 within a year and have at least some sort of personal life.

That is pretty amusing. I imagine some Cat balancing the universe by answering questions as quick as they can, always teetering between our salvation and utter destruction. The answer police ever vigilant against the chance that our champion might start gaming for points, don't they realize they will be doomed too if this hero is thwarted? No sleep, nothing to eat or drink; days go by without seeing their family; just endless questions from across the globe. Thank you Answer Majesty for your sacrifice, may your many well earned points be the crown you so richly deserve!

Nothing.. like us. Being up until 2:00 am answering people's questions...

Ugh...

Actually, 100,000 isn't that far a number. I've only been on for about two hours per day, late at night when everyone asleep, for one month now about and I'm at 1500 points or so. That means I should be in the 100,000 range in about 5 years.. ;) ha ha

Many of them have "followers". They keep giving each other 10 points for the most stupid answers, and when you can have up to 50 thumps up points...go figure..

And you can have two points just for a short answer...I look into the quality of answers and questions...I do not answer these questions for points. I like to spread the word of Gospel.

Well, with a lot of points they can ask more stupid questions...and of course there are people that they ask good questions...luckily we can skip if something gets tiresome...

They could use this as often (or even less often than you do) but have been using it for longer.
Or they could be those annoying people that just answer by saying 'two points!' as if it is some clever thing that nobody else has realised.

perhaps hes retired, like me, or could be housebound where the computer is his only means of escape from his world. Just because people spend a lot of time on the computer, they aren't always geeks. For some its their only entertainment.

Well i was thinking, they would probably write long, lengthy answers like this one with difficult and tedious words with one intention: to make themselves look good. for example would you vote best poll to this or something that had 2 words? My point exactly. Of course the sentences and words have to be repetitive just going over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and overand over and over. :)
