Figure $3-5k minimum not including duct work. Go with a reputable brand like Traine, Carrier, York. Do NOT go with a Janitrol or Goodman - they are bad news.

The cost of the additional duct work can vary depending on how good the access is. Ideal would be either an unfinished basement with a decent sized ceiling. Okay would be an open attic with decent access to the target room's ceilings. Finished basement and poor access to the attic? Double the cost.

The most important tip is to call around to 2 or 3 area providers that have been in business for at least 5 years. I have seen quotes from HVAC folks with good repurations vary by thousands of dollars.

Good luck.

No one can give you an accurate estimate based on the information given. There are just too many variables.

Best advice is to get a couple of estimates from reputable residential HVAC contractors, check out their references, make sure that they are insured, and make an educated buying decision.

Good luck with your project.

Well, that would depend on if you are having your home fitted with central ac where there was none before. If you are replacing an existing one, it would depend on what size you need, how big your home is, etc.
