Taking all war and politics out of Iraq makes Iraq one of the most ancient civilizations on earth. The history there is amazing. It has so much of the worlds history, hopefully it hasn't been lost forever. It is also is an extremely beautiful country, hopefully that hasn't been lost forever either. When politics, religion and war are put back in, the picture becomes filled with death, destruction and sadness.

Its hard to take politics "out of the picture" in Iraq because like most Muslim countries, politics and religion are inter-twined.

Being brought up Muslim, I learned about the history of how politics became inter-twined with religion. I don't agree with this view, and I am a strong believer in separating church and state. Religion is based on faith, where politics is not.

In the US, we do have separation of church and state, and politically speaking, I feel all wars affect current and future states of the nation. Once Bush is out of office, we will still be feeling the effects of the war. The worst part is, there is no way to "end" the war, per se. Its not like a book that has a beginning and an end. Or a math problem that has a solution. Its vague and slippery, allowing for movement for Bush and his cabinet to change tactics, if needed.

That said, I can't tell you how I feel about Iraq when one takes politics out of the picture.

A political analysis of Iraq would lead you to believe that nothing like this has EVER happened in the history of the world...how about the following examples from high school history class?

Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Germany.....what do they all have in common? Prior to engaging in war with the US, all of these countries had a dim future. After being defeated (in wars that "lasted too long", were initiated for questionable reasons, or were objectionable to some portion of the population), each country rose from the ashes to become something far better than they could have ever hoped for had they been left to their devices (and nefarious plans). Economically, socially, democratically, on nearly every plane, they were improved.

Iraq is no different.

Just as with the above countries, Iraq has elements of different religions, different languages, different cultures, different forms of governments....yet the common thread remains. When wrongs are righted, when bad governments fall, the long-term outcome is a positive one.

IMHO...minus the politics, minus the mindless media with their unsubstantiated claims and "the sky is falling" rhetoric.

I heard they had a Museum with the oldest know functional Battery?
I don't think politics would have entered the picture if people would behave. But, no the people of Iraq were fighting too much amongst themselves. That brought attention to Iraq. So, it's like calling in a babysitter to break up a fight. I don't have sympathy for a society that is so violent. And would like to wipe me off the map just because I don't believe exactly what they want me to.

The soldiers that I know say that Iraq has changed so much for the better. They believe in what they are doing and they feel that the world as a whole will be better off. They also say that the mainstream media leaves out the positive stories that fill their lives everyday and exploit the negative stories that just bring down the effort. The people love Americans and want to be free.

I think we went to war for the wrong reasons. We were supposed to be looking for Bin Laden and somehow we ended up in Iraq looking for weapons of mass destruction. Once there were'nt any weapons of mass destruction found, Bush turned it into a war to stop genocide (you can say) saying that Hussein tortured and killed his own people. Which was true, but it isn't the American way to venture abroad to stop mass slaughter by force. So if the reason we're in Iraq right now is because Saddam was killing and torturing his people, then why aren't we in Darfur today? I didn't think we should've been in Iraq in the first place, but now that we're there, I think we should stay there till the job is done, whatever that job may be.

Islam has been at war with the world for the past 1500 years. They have spread their religion of hate to asia, africa, and have been trying to spead their religion of hate to Europe for 1,000 years.

Isam beheads people for watching soccer games, showing your face in public, not having facial hair, etc. etc. Why is this still considered a religion? Do you believe for a second that if Iraq was a super power and we were Iraq they would not destory us?

Your ignorance is allowed to grow because of the peace and prosperity that was was bought with the 1,000's of lives from American soldiers who fought facism, communism to give you the power to think independantly. Those people fought so liberals have the right to go to public schools and the televison and brain wash people into believing their BS everyone in the world is the same as you and I.

Go to this website and explore every inch of it. Afterwards tell me if you have the same opinion.

The world needs to oblitarate muslim countries and wipe out the threat.

Iraq is a country full of people doing what they can to survive, and make a better world for their children. Just like us. Except the politicians. Just like here. But you said to leave the politics out of it...

If you talk with the wonderful men and women who have been serving our country in Iraq, you will learn what a remarkable change has occurred in that country, all for the good.

As with any major project, some aspects probably could have been handled better, but for the average Iraqi, life, freedom and democracy are better.

it's kind of hard to take politics out of the war in iraq when the only reason we are there is politics. i don't think we belong there in the first place. thousands of american soldiers have been killed for no reason. we need to worry about the problems in our own country before we go off trying to solve the problems of the rest of the world.
