Um, it kind of confuses me. Don't different words, by definition, mean different things--even to the same person?

My Mother... although she read a lot. But yes, I know this... Tip of the Tongue....
Example:
That's why Canada's sports wear line ROOTS was a joke to the Aussie. Totally different meanings. Frightening, no. Enlightening...Eh!!! Ha.

it looks like this concept may have originally come from a couple communication scholars in the mid-1920's...

btw, i think the statement is very accurate not frightening at all.

Bush said it. Why would that frighten you? It doesn't matter who said it, it happens to be the truth.
