Don't forget Nuclear power. I mean if the French can get 70% of there energy from it, it can't be that dangerous.

I think that there's going to have to be considerable research conducted, but of course. It may end up being a number of different fuel source at first, but eventually it will settle down to just one.
Hydrogen is very promising. It is the most abundant element on Earth, and when you burn it, you get water. The only problem is that it is too expensive to harvest it right now... but like I said, more research will lead to cheaper production.

Its possible. They're working with derivatives from corn to make plastics. We've got solar power, hydropower, geothermal and wind for starters-all free. Hydrogen technology is coming along nicely. Biodiesel is a great concept, but it takes more power to get it than it produces for now.

Not easily or any time soon.
Oil is very dense with energy, therefor converts nicely into fuel.
Solar, wind, geo-thermal, etc. are very low in energy density and are not easily stored.
The best thing we can do is conserve and use nuclear fision.

They probably could..the countries that are actually paying attention to their own countries every now and then might come up with something eventually.

yes. i can think of three, right off the top. Wind, solar, and methanol (made from corn, soy, etc) and biodeisel, made by much the same process.
