I burnt rice in a stainless steel pot. It's not a non-stick pot. I tried soaking it for a couple hours, used a scrubbing brush and an SOS pad. The SOS pad helped a little, but not good enough. Any good methods?

Any time I burn something in a pot or pan ,I put water in it bring it to a boil add a squirt of dish soap turn off the stove and allow pan to sit on stove and soak till cool...then wash, scrub, sos...etc. I also heard fabric softener in it works...haven't tried that yet.

fill the pot with hot water and a bit of liquid soap and/or baking soda and bring to a boil (again) but keeping an eye on it. the action of boiling with the heat and moisture will moisten and lift much of it. Then you pour it off and repeat and repeat as necessary - then take the SOS pad to whatever is remaining.

Soak it in soapy water overnight and try again. Repeat as necessary. But if the pot itself is burned, you're going to have to junk it.

go with the vinegar idea, that stuff will clean just about everything. to get rid of smells in the house pour some vinegar in a small frying pan and "fry" it until its gone and it will neutralize the air.
