NONE OF THE "WHAT'S YOUR FAVE COLOR" STUFF PLEASE
I'm typing up a long email (it was requested, trust me!) and all I can think about is trying to learn more about this person I'm typing to! Try to make the questions different, questions that kind of shows you what type of person someone is! Thanks and have a nice day!

It depends on their age.

Someone asked me these type of questions 2 days ago:
one was: "Where do you see yourself in five years."
That really made me think and it helped the person find out more about me and my goals.

Another one could be:
What are your thoughts about the school you attended==did you have good or bad experiences.

What is your family like?

Questions like that are always good.

The best way to learn about a person is to ask them about their childhood. For example, "What type of toys did you play with when you were a child? Who did you look up to? What dreams did you have as a child? Did any of them come true?" Stuff like that....

These are my favorites (and they're all related)...

What are you passionate about? What makes you come alive? What do you dream of being one day (whether it seems feasible or not)? What are you doing to make that dream happen?

Depending on how deep your friendship is, you might be able to ask some of the latter questions. If not, the first two are good ones.

You could write something along these lines

"If you were somebody other than yourself and you were trying to find out about you, what would you ask?"

"what would your best friend say are your best qualities? how about your worst enemy, what would he/she say are your worst attributes?"

"do you have a personal philosophy of life? if so what is it? if you don't why not?"

I always liked the "How would you describe yourself in 3 words and why?"

How about: "Who has been the most influential person in your life, and why?"
