Cryptopsy, Krisiun, Zyklon. Any of the Swedish Death Metal bands. Better yet, listen to Black Metal. It's just better music...

I have an extremely limited knowledge of Death Metal, mostly limited to Opeth, whom I have extreme respect for. They combine the ferocity of Death Metal with the unique songwriting calibur of 70's Progressive to interesting results. Wish I could be more helpful, but that's all I've got.

The Canadian band, Into Eternity, is really good. Not pure death metal, but they have some elements of it.

Check out Aletheian. They're from my hometown, but they rock big time, and I don't even like death metal much.

Entombed (Swedish) is a pretty good one, and I really don't like that genre too much, but they bring it hard for my taste.
