It varies from state to state and the size of the nursing home, but generally speaking, you'll need a Masters degree, plenty of work experience in the healthcare field, and a lot of managerial / supervisory experience.

Usually you need a Master's in Health Care Administration and you need to become liscenced in your state (for the state survey).
