If we have faith in a God that we never seen, we must have faith in our goverment if we believe in terrorists, since we have actually never seen them. Im asking, what is the possibility that terrorism isnt as serious as we have been told, cause thats all we know about it, what we've been told right? (I want to hear all sides im not for or against any)

Terrorism is very serious. I'm sure you are tired of hearing about 9/11, or Khobar Towers, or various bombings in Indonesia or Iraq as an explanation for the degree of seriousness...and this makes it challenging to convey just how serious terrorism is.

I hear your point loud and clear: how do we know that the media is accurately conveying the severity of the terrorist threat? Is this threat as real as they report?

Well, my view is that we dont really know. Journalist organizations will strive for accuracy and "objectivity", yet the facts they choose to cite, the video footage they choose to show on TV, etc., all reveal thier level of objectivity.

Al Jazzera will show video that will make America look "satanic"; we will show video of Iraqi bombings that will demonstrate a continued need for U.S. involvement to fight terrorism.

My personal view is that terrorism existed for a long time as nothing more than an "ankle biter" nuisance issue that was limited to far-away parts of the world...sure terrorists tried to bomb the WTC in the 90s, but before that terrorism wasn't a big deal for us.

After 9/11 that all changed. I personally dont care what the media tells me. I now believe that there is an intelligent, persistent enemy out there who is going to look for our American vulnerabilities and exploit them.

I also believe that media saturation of the terrorism experience will saturate the popular culture in terrorist events, which will lessen the shock value that terrorists want...then, in ever greater efforts to shock us, terrorists will turn too events that have greater shock value but that also alienate them from thier own supporters.

Terrorists try to inspire fear in the populace. There are different flavors of terrorism from the environmental terrorists who do little more than burn and trash SUVs (driving all of our insurance rates up) to the extremes of racial/ethnic/relgious types who kidnap/kill people to sap the will of the populace to resist thier views. Terrorism is quite real has been around for centuries and will most likely never go away (IMO).

Regardless of you views on our government (never ever give your government total trust, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, etc. would be very dissapointed) terrorism is a threat.

Terrorism at it's worst kills. Terrorism at it's lesser forms at the very least saps social freedoms and drives up costs for society. There is no such thing as benign terrorism.

Yes Virginia there is a terrorist, and he is a threat...and not always in the way you think he(she) is.

Well, terrorists do exist - remember 9-11!? How about the English bombings or the Spain bombings? Unless you're one of those conspiracy theorist who believe man has never landed on the moon or that the Holocaust never happened, then a little reading of the local news (liberal or conservative media will do) and a little education mixed with a little common-sense should lead you to the conclusion that terrorism is real, and that we should be on the look-out. However, we don't need to be paranoid about it, nor do we need to lock ourselves in our homes. It's all part of life! Take care.

Terrorism is real and a serious problem. Ask the families of those who died on 9/11 or in London a year ago or on the train in Spain or those in Israel who live with it daily.

There is a lot about terrorism that we do NOT know. Face it. Support efforts to stop it.

There are a lot of things that go on at the government level that we must put our faith in politicians to handle. That is why it is so important to vote with research and information under your belt. The people we put into office through our votes must be worthy of our trust. We cannot blindly believe in anything. It is the nature of humans to be inquisitive and curious. It is before the votes are cast that we must use these tendencies to make sure we are electing representative who truly represent us. Is terrorism real? Yes. Should you be inquistive of the nature of terrorism? Yes. Should you have the faith in your government that you have in your God? I would say probably no, because of the very nature of the relationship. You helped put your government there. What did you do to put God in his/her place?

as to how your belief in god equals your belief in govenment and your belief in terroristis, i can only shake my head, but... regarding 9/11 ....my opinion is based on 2 things
i can list about 14 movies i've watched (i'm an American) that include shots of the WTC. on 9/11, i was notified by several frantic friends as well as the news media of the events as the WTC was hit. i saw the towers fall on live tv
in October of 2001, i travelled to New York City and visited with the people who lived there. everyone who lived in New York City wore black, (which, to American culture, stands for mourning.) and, i do mean everyone
i didnt go to "ground zero"
but, i saw with my own eyes that the skyline had changed. the twin towers were no longer there. i saw it from my planes, arriving and departing
they weren't there.
do you know how big those towers were? 2 buildings, standing for free commerce, opportunity to earn a living, AND earn a better living based on your own effort? NOT based on race, caste, gender, nationaltiy, disability? they were far bigger than their square footage, weren't they? weren't they??
you are right, we should never believe what we are told blindly
we need to be logical, and sceptical
and still yet, passionate

I have to answer this with a question:

How much of your freedom has been taken away due to the possibility of terrorism?

Your government now has more control over you because of something that may or may not be there!

You're completely right. London subways, Bali, Khobar Towers, USS Cole, Oklahoma City, Madrid, WTC 93, African embassies, beheadings in Iraq, daily suicide bombings in Iraq, daily suicide bombings in Israel, oh, and TWO FVCKING SKYSCRAPERS FALLING OUT OF THE FVUCKING SKY were all figments of my fvcking imagination. How silly of us. Do us all a favor and rid us of your evil disgusting presence.

I fear the war on terrorism is going the same way that the war on drugs did, it will wind-up being another drain on the taxpayers and an excuse for the govt. to take even more of our freedoms. "He who trades freedom for security, deserves neither."

It's not terrorism, its hatred. If what they did is terrorism, then our government are terrorists too.
