A new movie is currently being debated, basically because this fall does mark Star Trek's 40th anniversary.
But all the rumors (to date) indicate that if a new movie is made, and Paramount has made no decision on that as I post this, the current feeling is to go retro and cast younger actors as Kirk and company.

I've hear the Kirk, Spock at the academy rumors too, and I hope it's not true as well. Enterprise proved that a prequel in the Star Trek universe was not a good idea. Why make the same mistake again?

There is going to be a new Star Trek movie? When you hear about it please let me know! I thought the franchise was losing energy after Star Trek Enterprise!

Nobody knows yet. All we know is that JJ Abrahms, the creator of Alias, Lost and M:I: III is going to write/direct it and it's going to be in the time of Captain Kirk and crew... but they won't be in the movie. Totally new crew.

I've heard that it's going to be about Kirk and Spock at the Academy. That sounds kinda lame, so I hope it's not true...
