Make laws more strict and to enforce them better. Especially in aspects of child support, rape, murder, child abuse, etc. I think America needs to stop funding useless research and put that money to better use like paying teachers, police, and firefighters more than what they get now. More help has to be out there for the poor but only the poor who are willing to help themselves. Not the people who just sponge off of the government. There should also be better regulation of mental illness. I know everyone should have teh right to choose medication or not but a lot of the homeless are mentally ill and if they were on medication regularly then they would not really choose a life on the street. But since they can't afford medication or there is no body to make sure that they get it...they wind up not taking it.
If it was illegal to be liberal we would all be narrow minded.
Marriage is a legal document. Not something religious. So no matter if you are the same sex or not you should be able to sign a legal document stating that you love this person and you are going to spend the rest of your life with them.
America was founded in ENGLISH!!! IF YOU ARE TOO STUPID TO LEARN ENGLISH GET THE **** OUT OF MY COUNTRY!!!!

In response to the first two comments:
Zombie: I wish. A very idealist viewpoint that wouldn't work with the world culture as it is. Sad, but currently true.
Gwarr129: Just F.Y.I.: according to the FBI, if we stopped illigal immigrants and deported them en masse, our economy would collapse. Also, ending free trade would simply help the rich get richer, as well as the government. The government needs to step up instead of giving themselves raises, funding an unnecessarily large military, and cutting education at the same time.
On that note, we should, as a country, become more knowledgable about the world around us, give a damn, and educate ourselves on the workings of our own government. Through education and diplomacy, we can avoid much of the war that has plagued us in recent years, while working on solutions that benefit everyone involved, (and for those of you thinking "we don't negotiate with terrorists": terrorists aren't terrorists until they've become angry enough to use force).

Quit bickering about useless crap like "Removing" the "Under god" paraphrase in the Pledge of Allegiance. Another one would be to work out the Gay marriage issue to where it accepts marriage between 2 men or 2 women. Hell, love comes in many forms, wether between a man and a woman or between 2 men or 2 women. If that's what they want, let them do it! This is the land of the free and the home of the brave after all, i dont think the "Greatest" Generation fought for "straight" America or "gay" America....no they fought for AMERICA....ALL of US, wether white or black, christian or Jewish, straight or gay/lesbian.
End all the unnecessary bickering, get to the POINT! Instead of the constant talk of US troops withdrawals from Iraq....which will not happen any time soon....we should be working on improving the quality of life for military families who have lost loved ones or who have loved ones who are struggling with the war due to mental or physical issues. They should be our main priority.
Airborne!

Okay I read a lot of answers to this question. First, we must stop stating "us and them" in our political arena. We are "ONE Nation, Under God" and many people have sacrificed to defend it. I am conservative and do not like the way our country has been moving for decades. Yes we had the "greatest generation", but they fell asleep at the wheel when it came to domestic politics. (However, let me stop here and thank all of you who have defended freedom. We owe a dept of gratitude to you!) It think that Americans have to stop taking their freedom and rights for granted. Why don't we vote? For goodness sakes, the Iraqi people turned out to vote under the threat of death! They have been an oppressed people and understand the importance of their vote. I think that we spit in the faces of all those who defended and/or died for our freedoms when we are so laissez-faire about our country, our freedoms, and our right to vote. We act as though we have to apologize to the world for being who we are. We have earned our right in history with the hard work and sacrifice of the people that settled this great nation right through to this day. The second thing I think we should do is to reestablish the government in the way our founding fathers meant for it to be set up. It is slowly becoming taxation without representation. After we get our pride and our government back, I would say we take a rest and look at what needs to be done next.

Over throw of current entire government system and putting it back to "we the people" like the founding fathers intended it to be.
Fore fathers never wanted or thought we would turn into this corrupt, money hungry, money wasting type of government.
The money from corruption alone could put every homeless person in a home and fed for one year along with job training. Along with this the money can repave every main road in the USA so there are no pot holes AND still enough left over to remove everyone from the welfare system. In turn making us a truly rich country.
When people work, they earn, when they earn they spend, in turn driving an economy. Instead we are stuck with corruption and a few real rich folks while the rest are struggling.

First, buy more fuel efficent cars. Second, live healthier lives ( this would reduce the cost of health care) Third, stay in school! Fourth, boycott corpations that are evil and have unethical buisness practices, like Walmart and Disney. Fourth, pay attention and try to see the big picture( don't live for the moment, look ahead). Fifth, make our politicans deport all illegal immigrants and boycott companies that hire them. Sixth, STOP WHINING AND AND EXPECTING THE GOVERNMENT TO SEND YOU A CHECK.

The best thing American people can do to improve America, is to fight against the system's laws. Do you think they could fight their wars, if we stood up and fought their laws?

Introduce REAL lobbying reform.
As things stand now, our politicians and hence our government are in the hands of special interests.
Making wise decisions and passing effective legislation is only possible when the system of law-making is not broken.
The system has to be fixed. Abramoff was only a symptom; there will be many others like him, until real reform is in place.

i could say that we've become greater tolerant of alternative religions which won't persist with the Bible. a minimum of you may continuously desire :-). Bible, hmmm...a truer definition could be a textual content cloth written approximately 4 hundred years (i think of it grow to be) after the dying of Christ, with the author assuming that what he were informed grow to be real. in case you have ever performed "Whisper Down the line" or "bypass It On!" you will discover how actually words grow to be distorted and given an entire new meaning. And that would not even take into context besides the fact that if the author grow to be purpose or no longer.

Round up all illegals and deport them. Enforce our immigration laws. Make it against the law to be a lib or a Democrat. That's a good start.
