I don't know where you live, but in Toronto, Canada, where there is a large and well accepted gay and lesbian community, there are always ads in the newspapers for people to live in Gay Positive houses. While you don't necessarily have to be gay to become part of the household, it is sort of implied. There are many great old houses in Toronto with as many as six bedrooms, and you - or you and your partner - get your own room as well as shared common facilities. It's known as shared accomodations. The ones I am familiar with usually all have breakfast and dinner together, often with their kids, and then go off and do their own thing during the day, so in that way it kind of is like a sorority, I guess. It's a great atmosphere and I highly recommend this type of living arrangement.
You could check your own newspaper or ask gay and lesbian friends if they know of any such houses with a vacant room. I bet you'll love it!
Best of luck
