I have lived and worked in China for the past 12 years and am interested to see what other people who are not familiar with business practices in China think.

If anyone would like to open a dialogue about manufacturing, development or general life in China feel free to email me at gteeling@yahoo.com.
While I am no expert, I have lived here permanently for 12 years and have loads of experience and insights I would be more than happy to share with those that are interested.

I wish you'd have just told us what it's like in China because I am interested to hear if the rumors are true. All I know is this... bread at the grocery store is $3. Bread at Wal-Mart is $1.50. I sincerely believe that no one should be exploited, but if I didn't shop at Wal-Mart, I wouldn't be able to support myself, much less worry about China. It may well turn out that I hate Wal-Mart, but if that's the case, I'd have to swallow that and keep shopping there.

I think that Wal-Mart's CFO is ingenious. He's taken a large part of the financial woes of healthcare costs and unloaded it on the U.S. taxpayer and in turn it makes Wal-Mart look wonderful on paper and has lined the upper management pockets. He's also found a way for the U.S. government not to come down on the company. But, I don't know about the connection to China's business practices you are speaking of. It would be interesting to see your take on it.

I hate Wal-Mart because they put Small businesses in North America out of business. Most people here in North America belive that workers in China are underpaid sweat-shop workers.
