I met a nice young lady who i think likes me,but i don't know quite yet how i am going to tell her that i am still married.I have been seperated for many years, but i think it will make me and her feel a little at ease if i at least tell her that i'm filing for a divorce.I don't have a lot of money and i don't want to spend a lot of money.I'm kind of nervous about letting her get too close to me right now because i don't want to make her feel used if i wait until we get into a serious relation to tell her that i am married. She will be hurt,i know it.

There are several things that you can do. One would be to seek assistance from legal aid. Legal aid is for low income people. Check at your county court house where your legal aid is located. Another thing that you could do is go to a store like Office Max. They have legal forms that one can fill out to file for a divorce. Some court houses might wave some of the filing fees for poverty or low income people. Another thought might be to seek out a mediator that handles divorces. I would definitely inform your lady that you are still married and want to get a divorce. Honesty is the best policy. Good Luck!

There are a lot of sources in the community that help people with low incomes, look for Legal Aide in your community and I'm think that you will find the way to get divorce, but in the mean time talk to your couple about, the true is a lot better that a white lie.

File your own papers with the court system and don't hire an attorney. This will; however, be a lot of leg work on your part....the Judge will want to know how much you make, if you have any assets and what your assets are worth, how much money you have set aside in your retirement fund, if you have one, etc.

You can fill out the papers and file them on your own in most states. That's the cheapest way. You can download the forms off of the internet at the county courthouse website in your area. OR, you can go to the courthouse and pick up the "divorce packet".

go to a no fault state with the soon to be ex and you can get it done quickly and quietly. its going to cost you a trip (if you don't live in a no fault state) and a simple filling.
