I mean if there are always controversies if it was offside or not, and if there would be more goals if they take it .

I do understand the use of it and I do understand the sport, I live in a country where football is part of our everyday life, and I play football since I was 4. So answers and comments irrelevant to the question are not accepted.

The offsides rule is to prevent cherry picking. Goals aren't supposed to be made easily. Leaving a man downfield would make the games very boring. It would ruin the game acutally. This isn't arena soccer.

cos its not American Football! How do you imagine it - the striker chatting to the opposing goalkeeper whilst waiting for someone to pass the ball to him. In that case we could have overweight strikers - Maradonna could still be playing if there is no offside rule - so here it goes...
while doing lines of coke, the midfielder passes the ball to Maradonna! In all his excitement, maradonna drops his mayo sandwich (which he doesn't really feel like eating cos hes wired).... and scores his 124653th goal with his ***...(I know he isnt as fat - but still...)
I don't know - I kind of like the no offside rule!
Thanx man :)

Because you could have offensive players from the other team standing right on top of the goalie, just waiting for the ball (that's what goal hanging is). And that's just not fair on the goalie. Penalty kicks are bad enough! (Was heartbroken after Germany v. Argentina. Am feeling very sympathetoc to goalies at the moment).

If there wasn't an offside rule football would descend into the moronic chaos that the americans mis-name "football"

I am all in favour of getting rid of offside at least it eliminates a majority of the work for the assistant referees (or linesman) and help them concentrate on helping the referees to make the right decision.

Would mean people could goal hang. Would take the skill out of the game.
