Arr the minorities truly free, honestly I think we are still fighting for civil rights, there are still systems out there trying to keep minorities and the poor down. For those in texas that system is called the TAKS test, if you dont know what I mean than do a little research.

Yes there are systems. It is called the RICH. As much money as they can get you to pay for something they will add 3% and put it on the shelf for you to look at. You will save till you can buy one. So life gos on.

Everyone is trying to keep you down. As long as you are down they are above you. It is just human nature on that part.

I was very poor and dropped out of school when I was in the 7th grade. I went to jail many times for drugs and non payment of child support. A friend ask me to get him some pot and I did because my brother inlaw was selling some and he got me busted and I did not even smoke just helped out a friend. I was waiting for my first pay check (many times this happened) at my job and missed the 5 pm dead line to get the money paid and went to jail and had to miss work and pay 500 bucks to get out of jail and court cost and her att fees to get out plus the $20.50 past due child support. Yes this was a long time ago. This made me miss the next payment and I went to jail again. This happened 4 times before they got the drift that as long as they kept doing that I could never make the payment in time. Man am i glade that is over. The court gave my car and her car to her. I guess being I was a long hair at the time they did not like me.

I cut my hair made lead person at my job and moved on to be a controller and then took over inventory control and now I pretty much run it all. I bought three homes and finaly built a new one. I have a little money in the bank and most everything but my new home a year old is paied off. I have 401K as well.

So the are systems setup to trip you but you just have to find what is stoping you from beating the system and make those changes. All it took me was to get a haircut. Well I did remove one tat that showed below a short sleave shirt

So with a 7th grade edu I make more money and am doing better than most with a BA deg.

You just have to have one of two things. Paper work or be really good at something and people like you.

There are systems of all kinds keeping every type of minority and poor and middle class citizens down. Look hard enough, you will find oppression everywhere. Growing up outside of Chicago, I passed by "the projects" almost every day on my way to school or work downtown. These buildings were conceptualized with the notion of keeping their inhabitants down. I live in North Portland now, and I work in Lake Oswego Oregon, and let me tell you, waiting for a cop in Lake Oswego, one of the more affluent towns in Oregon takes one tenth of the time as waiting for a cop in North Portland. Oppression is everwhere. It is up to those of us who are aware of it to make sure there are also just as many ways out every where. Right now, that is not the case.

Yes, the welfare system and public housing projects. There will be many people who left New Orleans that will find a better life does exist outside their poverty stricken neighborhoods and some will prosper. I housing project is much like a crab bucket, if one crab trys to escape the bucket all the others will pull it back down. Good luck to all who left.

You will only be kept down by what you allow to keep you down. Those tests that seem to be the flavor of the month are not really the issue. It is the approach that needs tweaking. I would suggest less excuses and more study groups.Seek positive ways to show the world that people of color are valued members of the world order and will not be denied. Peace.

There are far more systems to help Americans make something of themselves. If you have a dream or a goal, you can make it happen in our country.

Look for the positives. Help is there if you ask for it. Dream. Take initiative. Study. Work hard. Make friends. Be honest. You will live a rich life.

Yes and I think it's called stereotyping. On television and movies you always have an idea of what black people are "supposed" to live like and how hispanic people are "supposed" to live like. I see it all the time at my school. Our school is very diverse but most of the kids seem to segregate themselves. I'm black but just because I have the same motives or act like the girls on TV I often get comments like "You're black, why do you act white?" Our entertainment is sending out the message that if you're black or hispanic you're supposed to act tough, be in a gang and not care about school. And if you're white you're supposed to get straight A's and dress all nice and proper. I see kids try to imitate the rappers you see on televison talking about gangsters and hoes and guns and drugs. I think this is the main problem in the LA schools. They think that imitating the blacks on the rap shows is the way they are "supposed" to be. I hope this makes sense.

Yes, it's called WELLFARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get these people off their asses - make them earn the money that the states are giving them by mandating they go to school or learn a trade (even if it's on the State's bill - it's shorter term than giving them a hand out for the rest of their lives and creating a generational dependency!)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
