Then why when I print out a salary report from salary.com why do employers get offended and say thats ridiculous?. Also why would a CPA work for a company if he can be independent and make alot more on his own auditing other companies books? Also can people become wealthy working for a company or do they have to go the entrepreneurship way?

the only way to become your own company is to advertise youself. this is how you become wealthy. your salary is fixed if you work for a CPA firm, unless you work up to become a principal, and have a share in the firml it's up to you because both take time.

Salary reports use statistics from national VOLUNTARY reporting agents. Many do not volunteer because their salaries are low. But, that aside...any person who has a skill that is in demand has a choice: Do I sell my service to another, or, do I work for myself. I am certain you are aware of the pros and cons for either approach. Finally, without your definition of 'wealthy' it is difficult to respond. However, there are opportunities for investing which can provide a good ROI and make money for you. The risk - reward ratio must be considered. You sound like a young person...If that is true, don't be risk averse. Go for it!
