that would be the Korean War, there is just a cease fire it is still going on.

Cold War wasn't technically a war...it was just a stand off on the brink of war. The longest *declared* war was technically the Vietnam War. It went from 1950-1975. However, the longest *undeclared* war was with the Apache Nation. It was from something like 1840-1886.

Since Bush Sr. bombed Iraq for over a month steady in 1991, we continued bombing them every month up until Bush Jr.'s recent 3-year siege. Over a decade of sanctions have also caused untold amounts of starvation, suffering, and deaths from lacking medical attention and supplies. So I would say our 15-year assault on Iraq is our longest "war." Since the Iraqi people never attacked us or offered a formal military response, I hesitate to call it a "war" though. I would actually call it a Slaughter, or a Massacre. Another term for it might be systematic "racist genocide." I am not aware of any other United States military action that has lasted longer.

Technically, the longest war that involved the U.S. was between the U.S. and the Seminole Indians. These Native Americans have never formally surrendered, so technically, they are still at war or hostilities with the United States government.

I'm going to throw in the War of 1812. Canada burned down the original white house, and because the best communication was with telegrams on horses, I'm sure that would lag it behind a little. I don't have the numbers, but it sounds like something to look up.
