Of course, but try to keep in REGULAR contact with your real friends (you know the ones you talk to everyday your life) even if they can meet you for lunch at work or call you at lunch or whatever, that helps! YOU NEED a support system outside of work to get through it, preferably friends who can relate to the atmosphere on your job or at least sympathize (I say bring them there to meet those people who annoy the heck out you, I have and my friends can get vibes and inferences that I did not even pick up on to help me understand the person better!)
People in the office who gossip, create or listen to drama or stab backs are usually people with either NO LIFE outside of work or one that they are not very Proud of the one they have(can you blame them? I would be if I were that fake! Laugh Out Loud)...
I worked at the Courthouse in my city for almost 2 years before I recently left to work at law firm and I have experience I worked at my first law firm in High School back in 1997, Politics, fakers, gossipers and backstabbers...the KEY is don't have time to LISTEN to the gossip, if someone gets negative, don't even pretend by facial expression or body language you have an interest in what their saying, even if it shocks you something Horrid...they are trying to get you to react so they can use you, and use you and abuse you and then backstab you...just don't listen to gossip, don't take sides, if you know someone is being treated unfairly be there for them openly but don't deliberately play devil's advocate and not be just a fair and helpful to the one's who are cruel, that is not your issue, you are at work TO WORK, if those who want to be the "Play" want to do that, let them, but I have found that even me the most outgoing person, can be "shy" if the situation warrants, never let them get too close, if that seems fake--believe me it is not, it's being professional, after all, you cannot go wrong if they don't want to act right, when you are not in anyone's business and they are not in yours.

It is mission impossible. I always do my work and not getting involoved in any gossips and backstabbing. However when there is any sabotaging/backstabbing in my office I seems to be involved, when I dun even know wat actually happened.
Tt's why sometimes I really feel frustrated in working with my existing company. As long as there are you r working with human, you may to be careful. If you work with machines, then you dun have office politics.

Be all-organisation with them. It would not sound like you may pursue a social courting with those human beings outdoors of labor--why will we sense like we ought to in ordinary words because we artwork together. deliver the most concentration of the communique lower back to the artwork accessible with questions like "How's the .... coming?" or "did you comprehend if .... is waiting yet?" anybody hates speaking about artwork, so the extra you deliver it up with those human beings, the a lot less they're going to communicate over with you....
