Soul mates ... we should all love one another ... so there is some truth in this, however, I believe we morph it into more fantasy than reality ... although it's based on truth.
True Love ... is earned when two people stop fantasizing ... when men stop watching the porn and objectifying the women ... and when the women stop fantasizing about a prince charming like in story books ...
True love occurs when two people trust (which is earned) each other enough to let each other into their minds, hearts, and souls ... too often us woman are not prepared when we are allowed into a man's mind, and this can frighten us permanently. This intimancy of the two is sacred, but very challenging ... it's not about the white horse, or kiss ... but about the ability to cope with another individuals absolute being (the good, bad, and ugly).

I prefer not to believe the soulmates part of the equation. If that much is true--if there's a one-on-one soul matchup available to each of us, but ONLY one--then most people go through life enduring some pitiful approximation of love. That seems like a fairly tragic vision of relationships.

Its a fantasy that can come true. We like people that make us feel good. The better they make us feel the more we like them. When two people dedicate themselves to making the other feel good that is true love. They will remain together as long as they both shall live.

soul mates is a thing of American culture, it is ingrained in you since childhood. It's part of protestant thinking and an important part of predestination, so if everything is as it SHOULD be, there has to be someone for everyone. So I'd say fantasy.
True love, yes it happens when you are with someone that love you as you love him/her. So true.

True to both. My wife is my soul mate and the one true love in my life.
Does everyone find it? Unfortunately no, so that's why I feel so blessed.
FYI, I don't believe in a God or gods....
