I am not black, I am white, but along with the same concept, I don't mind being called white. I don't get offended if people don't say caucasian or european-american. Plus, I am not from Europe, my ancestors were, the same with black people, in most cases, they aren't from Africa, thier ancestors were so we are all just American.

*****. That term always brought the image of a knee growing. It didn't have much to do with race. It was just an odd image. Black and African American are moderately accurate but the terms do not reflect the wonderful variety of pigmentation. We need a more colorful set of descriptive words.

Black, just because it's faster to say. I've never known anyone who has been offended by that.

I think it was Roosevelt who coined the term "African American", but that was decades ago... now it just seems like too much work trying to be politically correct. They're just Americans who happen to be descendants of Africans and thus have a dark skin color.

African American it is a polite way to say it and the only way. Saying "Black" just makes you look like a races.

The "proper" term will change every 10 years. It was once "*****" then it was "colored" then it was "black" then it was "African-American" now it's "person of color" and next it will be "differently hued individual." It's all a bunch of nonsense. It's white, black, latino, asian, whatever. Who cares? Someone is always going to be offended no matter what you call them. So call them by their names. It's more effective to address people as individuals anyway. Fvck groupthink.

I would say American, because I was born in America, I call myself an American, Not an English, Scottish, Irish, Cherokee American, seeing as those are all in my heritage.
