Is it to cover up our insecurities? Show how fashion conscience we are? Wouldn't the world be a better place if we couldn't hide behind the latest fashions or clothing to intimidate?

And please--of course we have to wear clothes in the winter or else we'd freeze--I'm talking about when it isn't necessary.

If I fall down on the sidewalk with my current clothes I'd still suffer bruises and scabs. And "just because" doesn't cut it. Come on, the answer is we're all so insecure we need to hide behind fashion to pump ourselves up into something larger than life (yes, myself included).

Brief research on this subject, notwithstanding the responses seen here, shows that the real reason is "that societies have enacted legislature to insure that everyone is clothed."

There are laws throughout the world that force us to wear clothes or be faced with the consequences.

But, to look at the subject, from a different angle based upon responses seen here, it appears that most of the responders seem to react emotionally when this question is posed. This could be do to the inhibitions that our culture has ingrained into each of us that we are supposed to "react" when we see someone that is without clothes.

Much of our existence is based upon practical reasons for wearing clothing, particularly in the workplace. There are many job functions where garment wearing is necessary in order to reduce injury or harm from the surroundings. In addition to hazardous work areas, clothing can provide a deterrent to the behavior some people would exhibit if they happened to see someone naked.

I personally found that it was very interesting that a "Survivor" finalist didn't wear any clothes during the many weeks that he was competitive. Not so much that he was naked, but, that the other contestants after the 1st 2 weeks did NOT find his dress distractive.

Our politicians, church leaders, and others have had major influences on our dress codes as some sort of sign that needs to be pointed to and monitored as if this is the defining moral character of a good neighbor.

Yes, clothing for all the good that it does do, it IS NOT based upon the unfortunate interpretations of the Bible that we see thrown at us time and again, even here. But, rather, it was through the ingenuity of our ancestors who understood how to use coverings which allowed them to travel away from the equator to exist and raise their families as they expanded to the far reaches of our planet. This is HOW WE GOT CLOTHES!

Now which one(s) of you will do a documentary on "Why we wear clothes ..." and attempt to correct the misconceptions that so many people have about our human existence?

It should have a profound impact on helping all of us correct our viewpoints in the area of clothing and lack thereof.

This could lead to a greater understanding of how ill sorted our views have been and start us on a greater path to manskind's growth. This would be instead of what our politicians, elders, and leaders have been doing to us by pushing blind themes at us.

the clarification human beings placed on clothing isn't something to do with protecting your nudity to keep the genitals inner most. that is in ordinary words because clothing look after you from the chilly and from the sunlight (safe practices from the sunlight fairly significant for white human beings) concerning the genitals as "inner most" is more suitable than likely a results of wearing clothing, extremely than a reason behind it. There are nevertheless tribal human beings contained in the international who not often placed on clothing and must be suspicious of people who did (possibly wearing clothing potential you've something to cover?) the priority of western attitudes to nudity is associating it with sexuality. Nudity has no sexual implications - walk round any coastline in southern Europe and also you'll see toplessness or complete nudity does no longer allure to a second look. The regulation (of england) does no longer compel absolutely everyone to placed on clothing or evaluate nudity as "indecent publicity" - for the nude individual to be to blame of indecent publicity, someone might want to rfile feeling indignant by employing the sight of the criminal's nakedness - if no individual is indignant, no offence is deemed to were committed - this defence is why such multiple streakers (very person-pleasant at English carrying activities) spoil out with a telling off extremely than a conviction - the gang egged them on so won't be able to be suggested to were indignant.

since human beings pair-bond and mate in private exposing the genitals puts the fully naked person at a social disadvantage (other people can see / smell what s/he is thinking about) and is likely to prove distasteful to folk uninvolved in the courtship dance.

where courtship is out of the question (nudist beaches / army health inspections / concentration camp showers) full nudity is less of an issue.

because human beings are social animals (like chimpanzees, and unlike polar bears) as soon as there is a need for garments there is a perceived need to use such garments for a display of social status.

we show how successful, impressive, and desirable we are in the way we talk, the tone of our suntan, the house we live in, the car we drive, and the clothes we wear. this is because for people the most important thing in the whole world is impressing other people.

here people show how clever they are by posting interesting questions.

We wear clothes to protect our bodies from the elements, and also to cover our sexual organs. This is just the basic reason for clothing.

A further use for clothing is to show our individualism, to speak to the rest of the world about who and what we are. If it were "just to cover up our insecurities" we'd all be wearing the same sack-like "uniform". Clothing is a very powerful expression; it is a potent tool for expression without words. It allows us to say, "I'm a Punk! I'm Gothic! I'm a rich person! I'm a fashion queen!"

Also falling into this category is color. We express ourselves with color in clothing. Navy blue signifies trustworthiness, knowledge; black and red are colors of power, pink is innocent, blue is calming, orange is off-beat, purple is spiritual, green is healing; etc. Notice when the would-be presidents are having a debate, they usually wear red ties. Red signifies, "I am powerful, I am in control." Take note of the tie colors of the president. When he wishes to be calming or somber, he wears blue. When he wants to project an image of power, he wears red. Color has language, too.

Who wants to see someone like Roseann Barr naked? Not me! Also it is the hygiene thing, I really don't want to set my naked behind on the same seat that the sweaty old man just got up from.

originally as protection from the elements/environment. instead of scraping your skin on a rock, wear some fur and it gets scraped instead right?

If you saw me naked you would not be asking this question. You would be thanking whatever God you worship that we do wear clothes.
