I find the day 9/11 has been bestowed with too much honor and importance. Considering that the date 9/11 was chosen by the terrorists, aren't we in a way bestowing honor to the terrorists by granting so much importance to that day?

Remember the date 9/11 was chosen by the terrorists. So it was this jerk--Osama or whoever--who chose that date. And we are obligingly honoring the thought that was bron in that rascal's mind. e.g. if he had chosen 10/11 then everyone will be talking of 10/11. In a way we have succumbed to his thoughts.

I'm not sure if we honor the day more than we remember it. We remember the day for the people who lost lives and who were affected by what happened that day. We do honor the people and their efforts for saving and trying to save lives, but I'm not sure if there is much else we honor.

We do the same for Pearl Harbor and other acts of terrorism and war. The difference is that 9/11 was so recent, it still resonates in people's mind making it a more widespread day of remembrance.

Dude, there is a HUGE difference between honoring the day and the terrorists and in honoring the memory of the more than 2000 people who died through NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN. Use some common sense, man.

9/11 is a date that changed america forever. most people that lived through that day are going to remember for the rest of their life where they were at the moment they heard about what was going on. veterens day and memorial day are days set aside to remember soldiers killed in war. by what you are saying, they shouldn't be honored either. do you realize how many americans died, how many kids were orphaned, how many heroes died trying to saving just one more person. alan jackson sings a song called where were you when the world stopped turning. the world really did stop that day. i think most americans were glued to their tvs that day and the next.

we aren't honoring the terrorists. we are honoring the hundreds of americans who lost their lives that day in september. that day is very important to our history and the people who lost their lives deserved to be honored and remembered.

I don't think we honor the day.

We remember it.

And we should remember it, because the events of that day should teach us to be on our guard against enemies who would very much like to destroy us.

We honor the innocent people who died that day, and we honor the brave police and firefighters and many civilians who risked everything to save lives. Many paid the ultimate price.

We also remember the Battle of the Alamo, and the heroic fighters on both sides who gave their lives.

And we remember the attack on Pearl Harbor.

These days are intrinsically important. I will not forget them as long as I have functioning brain cells.

I want to remember 9/11 so I know who needs killing. We have been in a state of war since 1979 and it's about time we took it to the people who would see the innocents of the world killed because they don't think like them.

remembering 9/11 is for the ones who died and ones who suffered from those who lost a loved one and for those who risked their lives to help in an effort to hopefully find those who may have survived and for those who helped in cleaning up the mess.

the remembering is NOT for the terrorists who did this.

WE honor this day for all of the innocent people killed. Simple as that.. Would you like to celebrate your grandmothers death a week after or before the actuall day?

Memorializing is for the grieving and left behind to console and rebuild by sharing memories of better times and acts of courage, it has nothing to do with honoring the evil acts of men.

Every time we look back at 9/11, we are reminded how vulnerable we really are. We should never forget what happened and will hopefully prevent future attacks.
