I don't know if this is the best way, but in Japan, they use ear picks for cleaning ears. Can buy them online. I'm not sure if ear pick is the real name for them (in English)...
You can also use olive oil in the same manner as the 1st person said to use peroxide

Most chemists and health stores sell ear candles. Get someone to help you. You need to lie on your side and get someone to light the candle. It is the most amazing feeling. Your ear goes warm and crackles a little, there is no pain, but when the candle is finished, there is so much ear wax in the candle, it's absolutely amazing. Even if you clean you ears every day with cotton tips, you will still get an awful amount of wax out of your ears.
Go for it. It's great!

They make something that resembles a hook, it's in the among the other ear care products. It is made so that when you use it, it does not push the wax farther into your ear like a q-tip does. There are also solutions they make for ear cleaning or you can just use hydrogen peroxide.

The best way is putting olive oil in a swap and applied in your ears for a few minutes and then use a Q-tip (dry) to clean it.

You can squirt water up into your ear and then let it completely drain out. This will help to clean out some of the wax.
Have a lovely rest of the evening.

My brother tried ear candling, and said it worked great. Just have someone with you while you do it, to stay safe.
