no they shouldn't. also there shouldn't even be evangelists. the great commission is for everyone, and even though it is an accepted thing, christians have let evangelists place themselves on this holier than thou pedestal, allowing other christians to sit back, give some money and let him do all the work. i'm not saying they are bad people, i have a family full of them, but God said his Word is suffient for us, he never said to pay a great speaker to come and get us all excited.

An evangelist shouldnt charge for a speaking engagement unless his ministry is funding that particular event. If a church or group of churches arrange for this evangelist to speak they should cover the expenses of the evangelist and offer the monies recieved in the offering(excluding tithes which should go to the church) to the evangelist.

I would think a reasonable fee to cover any traveling expenses, gas, etc. However in my opinion, if they do charge a fee, say $100, then it projects the wrong idea. It's called "simony" making religion look like a money making racket (though that might not be their intention). Somehow I wouldn't hear the "message," thinking it is some scam. Somehow I don't think you should pay to hear the word of God.

No, I don't think they should charge. I believe they should do it freely from the heart because it's God's Word they are delivering, not their own. However, whomever church/organization the evangelist is ministering to should voluntarily take up an offering. The bible says a man who don't work, don't eat. Apostle Paul worked to avoid being a burden to the people he ministered to.

Boy - that's a loaded question! If evangeliststs are invited to speak at an engagement for a not for profit orginization, then they should speak for free, provided their travel and accommodations are either discounted or included. If it is an event that is raising money then it is up to them. However, if money is offered in the first place, then they should be paid - most of them will donate a percentage or all of it minus expenses, to the cause!!!

I personally think the whole concept of evangelists is ridiculous. God (if there is one) does not personally charge, nor ever did for his wisdom and guidance. Therefore, I think that evangelists, and all such religious zealots, should not charge either. Not much of an example in my book!!

No, spreading the word of Jehovah is a responsibility not a job. People don't get paid for taking care of their responsibilities. Beside, spreading the word of Jehovah should be it's own reward, that and the reward of ever lasting life should be plenty.

I think they already do.There is no cover per say,but there are donations and tithing(giving the church a percentage of your income). I think we should tax religion the same way we tax alcohol, firearms and tobacco. Treat it as any other mind or mood altering substance.
