Meaning we isolate ourselves from world events, and just be spectators. We are not isolationists, like they are. We like to involve ourselves, and others like to involve us. Its our role as the only superpower. We tried to be isolationism, but the Germans sank the Lusitania in 1917, causing us to get involved in the First World War. Thereafter, we remained a decisive world force.

Look, you recieved an email from what we term in Canada as "a moron".

You see, morons believe that the world is a gumdrop fairy land which contains people who simply don't understand that they're doing things wrong and can be shown the error of their ways with a couple after school specials.

When in reality, we have people who kill others for trying to feed their families. We have people who bomb their own people to somehow cause issues for another country. We have people who will stop at nothing to control everything even at the cost of their own people.

Now, morons have a lot of phrases, for example:

"War, what is it good for, absolutely nothing."

- Tell that to the Jews who would have been slaughtered in WWII but were freed from concentration camps.

- Tell that to the south koreans who now have a strong economy and earn 10 times what their north counterparts did and who would most likely be starving now as they are in North Korea.

War is needed sometimes. It's a grim reality.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, addressing the moron (and morons like him/her) directly.

War should never be the first step. But we shouldn't cower from it either.

You live in your own little bubble of existance, not seeing what's really happening around the world. You don't know about how people are suffering but you think you do, so you don't learn. That's why you're a moron.

You're content to let people starve, be raped and killed. You allow children to be kidnapped and be forced to be soldiers at 12. You're inactivity causes people to lose limbs when they step on landmines.

You cause this, because you choose to ignore reality because it upsets you and conflicts with your frame of refrence. No war is your motto, and you do have a voice in our democracy.

Go to a library and learn about empoverished nations. See what's been done. Sending money and/or food is a perfect example of how aid fails and adds to the problem.

Then, and only then, you can have an informed and reasonable viewpoint on war and it's place in the world.

Thanks for reading.

NATO has forces in Afghanistan, and Canada is part of NATO. But Canada for the most part, has not been in a war since 1945. So, 2 wartime actions, mind you contractually obligation one, every 56 years. A much better record than 9 in 60 years.

Good point, they didn't research it properly.

But I gotta say, I'd love to get less involved in POS little peacekeeping missions like Somalia and Kosovo where half the time we're unwanted anyway. I don't want to be isolationist, but I don't understand why we have to be the only nation in the firing line on stuff like that. If other nations are b!tching and moaning about how we do things, why don't they do it themselves instead?
