Political parties do not necessarily constitute us not being a united people. They are simply representatives of different human's points of view. Political parties are necessary for equality and for us to be united. If not we would be living in a totalitarian state and we would be oppressed and forced by some higher authority to be united. Our country is united when it needs to be, and when it doesn't it argues...like any good family. Political parties do not define our nation's unity.

Three? Name them.
There seems to be some problem with the party not in power. President Bush made several uniting overtures, remember standing with Sen. Kennedy over an Education spending bill? There were several spending bills that the Democrats were a more cohesive voting body for him. It seems today, that if Bush says something it has to be wrong. The guy can't even take a crap without someone second-guessing how he really shouldn't have done it. He's done so much to appease the Left that his friends on the Right are staying away. Maybe a little less hyperbole on both sides is in order.

When they said ''united'' they say it with the hope that everyone will quit having their own political opinions and adopt whatever platform they are pushing. They want everyone as a whole to unite and be Republian, or Democrat or Green...The truth though is that we are divided as a nation and in more ways than just politically.

Having different parties creates diversity. Not everyone has the same morals or agree on the same issues. That is why there are so many parties. They compromise to make one governed country, hence us being united!

they're saying we need to be united despite our differences. We have different opinions, but there are certain things we can agree on. Things work better through a united home front and they are trying to develop a policy that pleases both sides that we can be united behind.

One in purpose has nothing to do with the number parties. All Americans should be one in wanting to protect the right freedom,
one in democracy. As we spend so much time criticizing our leaders & each other, we lose sight of what is important.
We should be united as one against terrorism, dictators, & supression of people unable to defend themselves.

they have been saying that for years, unfortunately they are their own worst examples. politicians are proffesionals at politics and nothing else. they dont care about you and me, just getting elected. its whose got the loudest mouth and can lie the best, and they are running this country slowly into the ground.
