how do i take the emotion face and put my avatar?

The gray smiley? Go into your profile and click on "Edit My Info," and then scroll down to the picture area and select "No Picture."

If you want to change the facial expression on your avatar, go to http://avatars.yahoo.com/?src=ymail - then click on one of the faces above the avatar pic (which should be on the left side of the page).
