What kind of boat is it? Where do You sail?
I took me over a year to come up with a new name to rename my boat since the previous owner asked that I retire the name that was on the boat.
Since I was sailing to the South Pacific I was toying with Hawaiian names and it came down to 3:
- Hale Kai
- Holo Kai
and
- Hale Moana
At the last minute I chaged to Pretty Lady.
and it is the perfect name for her.

Type in "boat names" or "naming a boat" in your search engine and many web sites come up that help you pick a name that is suitable to you, whether it be a name of a family member or pet ( there are some superstistions related to this also). It can also have to do with your personality, career, how you financed the boat, etc. Just remember, there are superstitions to renaming boats so pick one that really clicks with you. You'll know when it is right.

Jenny! I had 12 Jennys when I was a shrimp boat captain. Bubba would of been so proud when I invested in that fruit company by the advice of lieutenant Dan.

If you are planning to change the name of a boat, you had better do it correctly otherwise THE BOAT WILL SINK.!
There are Web Sites you can go to for the proper ceremony to perform to protect your investment.
I'M SERIOUS ABOUT THIS... When I got my first boat, I changed the name from "Wing" to "Argo" and THE BOAT SANK... I later found out the ancient superstition of changing a boat's name without paying the tribute to Neptune and Poisedon.
