I have an "81 suzuki 750 . The tank is rusted inside. I have been told not to trust the relining kit, and they have discontinued the tak. What models and years interchange with this bike?

Please help! I need to know so I can use it as trade in.

You can repair this tank and save yourself this question. Pull the tank off the bike, and remove all fuel. remove the fuel valve from the bottom, and cover with a hose and hose clamp over the threads.
Now fill the tank withone gallon water, and a few big handfuls of marble sized gravel. Put the cap back on, and shake your tank, or roll it in the grass. Keep checking progress.

The gravel will remove the rust, and clean up the in side.
After it looks fairly clean, dump the gravel, flush well with clean water, and blow out insides with compressed air to dry the water.

After this, I recommend the tank sealing system called "KREEM". It comes in a kit with tank prep.

Use this and forget you ever had a problem.

Good Luck!!>>

An '81 Suzuki is not worth much. Do the reline and trade it. I don't remember the company's name that makes a good tank sealer but you can find their as at Hemmings Motor News.

you can go to a bike salvage yard and take a look most tanks are usable you may have to change the bracket. i know a couple of people who have used the reliner kits and only one had problems with it.

get a box of bb's like for a bb gun and put them in there with a bit of gas and shake the tank around for an hour or two.

you can take it to a local motorcycle shop and get them to do the kit. i work on bikes and wouldn't recommend doing it yourself if you don't know what your doing, but you can rely on the kits they do work.
