Yes. I can't speak in absolutes, mind you, but I feel that we're all here on this earth to learn SOMETHING. Something specific. I believe in past lives. I believe that people (namely, souls) who lived before and died could be reincarnated in another life to continue the life lessons they didn't complete in their previous incarnation. I believe that when you "graduate" and learn/experience all that you need to, your soul can make a choice to continue coming back and living or go to the "better place" differing religions and cultures all generally agree upon (but still argue about).

It is utterly mind-boggling to me that any grownups still believe that the religious myths they've been taught are true and not merely metaphoric.

First off, the Christian texts come a century after Christ supposedly lived and died. Secondly, they contradict each other. Third, a Roman Emperor picked which gospels would be used and which discarded. Fourth, this emperor worshiped Mithra, a persian diety who was said to have been born on dec 25 and who died for our sins.

There is no life after death. Death is the end of life. Grow up. Accept loss. Stop believing in fairy tales. If humans would stop this primitive practice of making up stories because reality is so harsh, we'd all be a lot better off because we'd face that we have to solve our problems and we have to solve them in the here and now.

It should be obvious to anyone who can read that the "Gods" in religious stories are humans - they have the traits, values, behaviors of humans. If there is a God, it is obviously totally indifferent to our needs, our wants, our wishes, our pain, our ideas.

Does it matter. Ultimately we must live our current lives as best as we can. Whether there is life or not after death should have little consequence to that. However, your question is interesting for how can society scare people into living a good life. Ultimately that fear of not going into a better afterlife is what makes many people behave well in our world. So in that sense it is probably important to propagate the theory that there is life after death. However, in reality the goal is to live a good life in this life. To do so not for some ulterior gain in our after life but so that we can live a better life not just for ourselves but for society in general.

Try to look back, atleast logically, though not possible experientially, where we were before we were born, we had to be present somewhere before getting into the womb ! That explains. We got into the body, and we leave the body. Unless we consciously live in this body, we are like a straw floating on flowing waters, we don't know where we can get stuck, or what we can do drifting this way. But when we merge with life itself ? A sort of complete dissolution !

It depends on what oyu want to believe. Some cling to the hope that they will be "Born Again," others believe in karma and reincarnation, and many others believe in the "Life after death" theory.
As long as you believe in something, you don't really need to worry about that question. Afterall we all learn the answer eventually, even we don't remember it for the next round.

I would think there Is much life before and after death. I believe that because our time in these fragile bodies is so brief, yet our spirits are so eternal, we're merely inhabiting this place for the blink-of-an-eye and go on to experience life in many other places and in many different forms.

Yes there is life after death. Jesus said if you believe in him and obey his commandments you will have eternal life. NO ifs ands or buts. How did we get here? What is our purpose in life? To spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. He is our Savior. But you will have to do away with all wickedness. Read the Bible. God will not let you down.
